SF Bound

Tomorrow is the big day. It marks the first day of my new job. I am very excited to get started. I think I am supposed to be nervous, but i'm not. Maybe it's because I know my boss and I know he is fair and intelligent (you don't always find those qualities in a boss). Or perhaps it's because I have been so unhappy for so long. Whatever it is, I can't wait to get started.

I will be in San Francisco for the next 2 weeks to learn the product. I even found a 5k race to run next Sunday. That should be fun.

I have been doing real well with my work outs lately, I think. Yesterday I did a 30 minute abs only workout. And I felt it this morning when I woke up. My plan was a full body workout but when I got to the gym, I wasn't feeling it. So I did the core workout and called it a day.

For this week, I am going to mix it up a little with a split routine. Today was biceps and back. I am sure to be sore in the morning! Sometime during the week I will do a triceps/chest day and a shoulder/legs day. Plus gotta work in 4 runs. Oh, there is a gym right by my hotel that offers a weekly rate of $25. For those that don't travel, this is a fantastic rate. Normally, I find the price to be between $10-15 per day (and these days it seems closer to $15). I am hoping to find time to take advantage of the classes they offer.  So much to do!

Go Speed Runner

I did a 3 mile speed workout on the treadmill today.  I felt zip, zip, zippy!  And yes, it is another beautiful day outside but the wind is really kicking, so we decided to skip running outside.

'We' as in my wife and I.  Piper is in school today and the wife is off so we got to workout together.  Friday's are pretty much the only day this can happen.  After running on the treadmill, we picked a medicine-ball workout from PumpOne that I have on my iPod Touch.  It was a partners workout so every exercise had us working together.  Surprisingly, it was a lot of fun.  And it was a great abs workout.

Is it Winter Yet?

The weather was fantastic today.  50 degrees when I started my 5 mile run.  A wonderful 60 by time I finished.  In fact, it was so nice, I stayed in shorts the entire day.  What more could you ask for?  Well there is more!  A high of 66 is expected tomorrow!  I think I might have another run in me.

Ok, so the paragraph above was mainly for Rachel.  I bet she is seething right now.  If it helps, my shins are hurting right now.

I watched Running the Sahara the other day.  The movie was fantastic.  I enjoyed it much more than Spirit of the Marathon.  Not only did I enjoy watching these guys tough out this expedition, but I enjoyed and was sadened by how the people of the Sahara live.  I highly recommend this one.

It's Always Sunny in Oklahoma

The Weather Channel.com says that the high tomorrow will be 64 degrees.  I give you one guess as to whether or not I will be running outside.

I decided to try Daily Mile out again.  I signed up 5 months ago and did nothing with it.  I am easily able to track my outside runs thanks to the Garmin and SportTracks (thanks again for that one, Lisa), but treadmill workouts and cross training seem to get overlooked.  I really need something to easily track everything I am doing.  Daily Mile just might be that something.  If you are on it, let me know.

It's amazing how much time one has for workouts, blogging and tracking when one has no job.

Go Get a Job

I am officialy jobless right now. It won't last long but it is still kinda strange not to have any responsibilites outside of the home. It's kinda boring, actually. I should try and enjoy it since it will only last until Monday when my new job starts. Then I am off to San Francisco for 2 weeks for training.

So how have I been filling my time? Cleaning and working out! It was been nice being able to go to the gym and not worry about what e-mails I am missing or what work I should be doing. Now that I think about it, maybe I could get use to not having a pesky job!

Can I brag a little now? My workouts have been fantastic lately. I have been running and weight training regularly. Even my ab work has been going well. Ok, I am done will the bragging thing. Thanks for listening.

Gotta go clean the kitchen now...

You're Hot and You're Cold

Yesterday morning, I ran right around this time (9 AM). It was 55 degrees, the sun was shining, and a gorgeous outside run beckoned. Aside from a pretty stiff wind, it was perfect running weather. I headed out to the lake for a 4 mile run. Having taken a few weeks off, I am slowly building back up. It was a fantastic run.

Now tell me this: how can it go from 55 degrees at 9 in the morning yesterday to a wind chill of 10 at 9 in the morning today? I hate this weather. I guess, however, I should be grateful for the nice weather yesterday.
