It's been a week since I posted, and there really isn't much to blog about.
I had a couple of good runs this week and a couple of crappy ones as well. I ran early Monday morning before my flight to Pittsburgh. It was a nice 7 miler that really got the day going for me before being forced to sit in airports and on airplanes all day. I love running before a day of travel.
The other 2 runs I did this week were completely forgettable. Saturday, however, I planned on running 13.1 miles. Longest for me. Friday night did not go well, however, and I was afraid that the entire run would have to be canceled. I will try to be delicate in my description, but I must have picked up a bug or something because I spent most of the night with my face in the toilet. Nice visual, right? When I woke up, I felt fine. Drank lots of water before starting and headed out. It was a GREAT run. The final 2 miles was hard--thought I was going to die. Just ran out of gas, but it was a good run none the less.
That was the highlight of my day, however. As soon as I got home, my belly "bug" kicked in. I will spare you the details, but I stayed in bed all day in agony. Hardly ate anything, and anything I did eat didn't stay down for long. I woke up this morning and everything was pretty much back to normal. Very odd, indeed. Sorry if any of that was TMI.
Check out this headline: Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon named Best Amateur Single-Sport Event at 2008 SportsTravel Awards. Came across this on Runners Journal website. Not sure who the competition was, but I can tell you from experience that this race was not without its problems. I ran the relay and it was pretty bad. Relay teammates were dropped off at wrong locations--some up to half a mile away. Other relayers, after finishing their portion, were stuck waiting up to 2 hours for buses to take them back to the start/finish line. It was a mess. Anyway, it is nice to see the local marathon get some press. So, anybody gonna run this next year? Speak up!
My birthday was today and the wifey got me the Forerunner 405! Even better than that, I got an ice cream cake. Who can beat that? Hopefully I will have time for a run before my flight tomorrow. Otherwise, I will be taking the 405 to Seattle with me for a test drive. More to come on that.
