5 miles for me on Saturday at the ole park. Strong. Like ox. I will say this: beer and hot wings the night before a run is not the smartest thing in the world. I was hurting if you know what I mean. I am, however, ready to kick it up a notch. As I increase my miles, I am going to add a longish run on Wednesdays to make sure I am ready for my upcoming half marathon. So on top of my speed and tempo runs, the plan for this week is to do 7 on Wednesday and 8 on Saturday. Both of these will be highs for me since coming back from my knee problem.
So why the rush to get my miles up? Well, I have signed myself up for the Route 66 Half-Marathon on November 16. I have 5 weeks to get ready. No problem. The race is in Tulsa, OK, about 1.5 hours from me. The wifey will be running the quarter-marathon. Yeah, they are actually offering a quarter-marathon. Wifey and I are pretty darn excited about this race.
Cold weather running is on our door step, especially for us early morning runners. Shouldn't be so bad here in OKC for a while--next week will be the coldest yet with lows in the low 50's. However, I have started buying some cold weather gear. On top of a couple of long sleeve shirts, I bought some tights. Specifically, a got a pair of CW-X Stabilyx tights. Say what you will about dudes in running tights, but these things are bad ass. And, since I will be in Connecticut this week, with lows in the low 40's, I can't wait to try them out! Ok , give me your honest opinion. Yes or no, would you wear tights?
Quick shout out to Karin at Chicago '08 - Round 2 who ran Chicago today. Congratulations Karin, you truly rock!
And now, because I am so excited about this, I won the pottery lottery at Jill's website! Jill is raising money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training. She has come up with some cool ways to raise money for this great cause; I can't wait to see what she comes up with next!
