The Hills. No, Not the Stupid TV Show.

Today's Run Results
Distance: 4.04 mi
Time: 41'05"
Pace: 10'09" /mi

I took the day off from running yesterday. It wasn't too difficult because I was exhausted when I woke up in the morning. Wifey and I stayed up a little later than we had anticipated discussing the upcoming trip to San Francisco. We decided that she and the lil one won't be joining me in California (as you may recall, I am not going to SF just for Bay to Breakers but for work-related training which starts the day after the race). Instead, the two of them will fly to Florida to visit her mom. This will be a little easier and a little less expensive, and it also means that I don't have to visit her mom (score). So I spent the better part of the morning rearranging flights, hotels, etc.

Being that I didn't run yesterday, I was itching to get one in this morning. I chose a 4 mile hill repeat program; it consisted of me running two 1-minute hills at 3%, another two at 5%, and two more at 7% with appropriate rest periods in between. You don't just run the hills, you "attack" them. So, while off the hill, I ran a 10 min pace (slower during my warm up and cool down) and increased that to a 8:34 minute pace when I hit the hill. It was a great run; it really makes up for a couple of crappy ones that I have had recently.

Kind of off the subject, but what kind of vitamins do you guys take on a daily basis? I do a multi, green tea extract, and Omega-3 fatty acid. Should I had anything to the list?

I am going to try and get Coach Kip to guest blog or at least write up something on his most recent run while he was on the road (road warrior like me). It involves running, a secret military installation, and the NSA. I'm sure it also involved him having to change his underwear when he got back to the hotel. It is a funny story. More to come...
